Inventory
Weight and volume, including the garage and the attic. Bedroom counts are a hint. They are not an inventory.
Access
Stairs, elevators, long carries, and shuttles at both ends. Access is often the line that makes two quotes diverge.
Labor type
Full-service crew, packing, labor-only, or a specialty carry. The word "movers" covers all of them until the estimate does not.
Timing
Month-end, summer, and same-day requests change availability. Flexible dates are a real discount. Imaginary ones are not.
Special items
Pianos, safes, and specialty pieces are separate lines. Hidden, they become arguments.
How to read a moving company quote
Start with the inventory. If the paper does not know about the third floor, it is not bidding your move. Then read crew size or shipment basis, travel, packing, valuation, and what happens if the job runs long or the weight runs high. Local moving company prices are often an estimate of hours, access, and crew size. UDDIM Moving does not publish a national rate card.
Searches for cheap movers and affordable moving companies are reasonable. Households have budgets. The trap is a low number that excludes the shuttle, the pack, or the stairs. Affordable, in a serious comparison, means the scope is complete and the total is one you can actually pay. It does not mean we claim to be the cheapest moving company in the country. We do not.

A moving estimate is a chance to describe the job and receive a written response. It is not a reservation, not a binding price, and not a promise that a crew is held. The form on this website prepares a mailto draft; it does not submit to a UDDIM server.

How much do movers cost?

Is the quote on this form my price?
No. The form collects facts and does not submit them to a UDDIM server. An estimate becomes a price you can rely on only when it is written against your inventory and you accept that scope. Final pricing depends on the actual moving requirements.
Why do cheap moving companies sometimes cost more?
Because the low number left out travel, stairs, packing, a shuttle, or the piano. Comparing totals without comparing scope is how a cheap quote becomes an expensive day. Ask what is excluded before you celebrate a smaller figure.
What is a binding estimate?
In plain language, a binding estimate is a promise to perform a described job for a stated price. A non-binding estimate can change when the real weight or services differ. A not-to-exceed price caps the upside. Ask which document you are holding. This page is not legal advice.
What should I send so the estimate is useful?
Both addresses, dates, home or office size, stairs and elevators, photos of anything heavy or unusual, and whether you want packing, storage, or labor-only. A bedroom count alone is a weak brief.
Do you charge to prepare an estimate?
If an on-site survey ever carries a fee, that fee will be stated before anyone schedules it.
Can two companies quote the same home differently and both be serious?
Yes. Crew size, valuation, packing, and how they treat the shuttle can all differ. The professional comparison is the line items, not the typeface on the first page.
